Comet PANSTARRS and the Crescent Moon
Comet PANSTARRS was named after the telescope system that discovered it. In the northern hemisphere, it was low in the western horizon when it was at its brightest. For a few days, it was closely paired with the crescent Moon, creating a gorgeous view. This shot is at the end of a windy day, so the image shows a band of dust suspended in the air, colored by the last embers of sunset.
