Iridium over Taiban Church

Iridium over Taiban Church

The Taiban Church has always fascinated me, but this was my first chance to shoot it. I figured capturing the last of the Iridiums over the church, with the Milky way and Jupiter would make a unique and memorable shot.
The Iridium satellite is the bright line at upper right. The dimmer line is another satellite streaking past in the opposite direction. The bright spot just to the right of the bright Milky Way is Jupiter. If you look carefully, can you see the shadow of a horse (nose up, tail down) just behind Jupiter?
The original Iridium communication satellites had solar panels that reflected light onto Earth in a predictable pattern and would brighten over 10-15 seconds and fade again. The system is being updated with newer satellites that do not flare and most of the older satellites have already deorbited. This pass is one of the last few flares left for my area.
